Where to Find Cheap Theatre Tickets in Sydney

Snaring cheap theatre tickets in Sydney can be done. Here’s how, thanks to Timeout:

Bell Shakespeare: Under-30’s get discounted tickets at $33, and previews are $35.

Belvoir St Theatre: Get a group of 10 together, and this Surry Hills theatre will give you a $10 discount per ticket. Also check out student rush Tuesdays and Saturday afternoons.

Ensemble Theatre, Kirribilli: Full-time students pay $30. If you are willing to wait until 6 pm, you might catch a last-minute rush ticket on opening night for $25. In 2014, tickets for under-30’s will be $38.

Glen St Theatre, Belrose: If you are 16 to 28, you will receive an almost 50% discount. Student rush is just $15 (except opening night).

Griffin Theatre, Kings Cross: Monday Rush is just $15 on Monday nights, one hour before opening time.

New Theatre, Newtown: Wednesday is the night to go here, when all tickets are $17.

Sydney Opera House: Opera Australia sells standing room tickets for $44 from 9 am on the day of show, as well as the usual student rush. They also sell balcony box seats or ‘listening seats’ where the view is restricted, from 9 am on the day.

Sydney Theatre Company, Walsh Bay: As well as discounts for under-30’s, the STC sells $20 ‘Suncorp Twenties’ tickets over the phone or over the counter every Tuesday at 9 am for the coming week’s performances.
