What to Do in Sydney

Sydney’s Old Government House is an attraction in itself, but the House also suggests travellers try these ideas:

  • Call in at 34 points of interest on the hop-on, hop-off City Explorer Bus tour. You can’t miss this red double-decker, and there is a Blue Explorer that visits the harbour and Bondi Beach.
  • See the harbour from above as you fly to lunch on a seaplane tour.
  • See the harbour from the water on a slow cruise with a meal and entertainment, or a fast jetboat with 360 degree fishtail spins.
  • Cycle the city on a guided tour, or pedal off on your own.
  • Sydney is a sporty city. Golf, mud runs, bushwalking, ocean swimming – the choice is almost limitless.
  • Get to know Sydney’s vibrant cultural scene with a visit to the Sydney Opera House, the Sydney Theatre Company, or the Art Gallery of New South Wales. The annual Vivid Sydney program shows off the city with a high-impact light show.
  • Sydney is also an exciting place for kids. As well as free parks, playgrounds and beaches, take them to Taronga Zoo, or Wild Life Sydney Zoo, or one of the aquariums to see Australia’s famous marine life like lionfish, octopus, sharks and penguins.
